UNCERTAIN GERMANIC TRIBES, Pseudo-Imperial coinage. Late 3rd-early 4th centuries. 'Aureus' (Gold, 20 mm, 6.47 g, 6 h), 'Ulów Group', O2/R1. Imitating Claudius II, 268-270, or Aurelian, 270-275. OIIIM∾ΛO∾ΞNMΩIII Laureate, draped and cuirassed imperial bust to right, seen from behind. Rev. OZMCIIIΩIIIIOΩNOΩMIIII (starting at 12 o'clock) The emperor riding on horseback to right, wielding uncertain weapon in his right hand; all within beaded inner circle. Bursche, Ulów, fig. 3 (same dies). Sergeev 220 var. (same reverse die, but differing obverse). A magnificent example of this impressive type. Holed and with light marks, otherwise, good very fine.
